Overview
This case study is on STAR's TECH, a company that is committed to environmental preservation and sustainability. To lessen the environmental impact of snow removal and protect starfish populations, STAR's TECH has created the cutting-edge 'ECO-ST' Starfish De-icer.
Using calcium chloride or salt to melt snow has severe environmental repercussions because it produces chloride ions, which corrode metal, damage concrete, and harm plants. Other eco-friendly deicers have appeared, however, they have performance and cost issues and can be harmful to the environment. STAR's TECH's ECO-ST utilizes marine garbage, in this case, starfish, to get over these issues.
STAR's TECH's extraction technique takes bone chips from starfish and turns them into a green alternative to chemical de-icers. In addition, they use collagen extracted from starfish to develop "PENELLAGEN," a dermis-penetrating cosmetic component. In addition, the organization achieves zero waste by recycling by-products into fertilizer.
